Following a 1999 visit to the Balkans in the aftermath of the devastating war, Dr Yusuf Islam establishes Small Kindness. In 2002 offices open in Bosnia, Kosovo, Albania & Montenegro.

2003

2003

Dr Yusuf Islam re-records his classic song, Peace Train, for War Child’s 'Hope' CD. To help raise funds for injured and orphaned children of Iraq.

2004

2004

Dr Yusuf Islam is awarded the Man for Peace award by former Soviet President, Mikhail Gorbachev, by during a ceremony in Rome, for having worked to "alleviate the suffering of thousands of children and their parents…”

2005

2005

Small Kindness Indonesia office opens and Dr Yusuf Islam performs at a fundraising concert in Jakarta for victims of the tsunami, whilst recording a new song, Indian Ocean, in aid of the victims of the tsunami.

2008

Small Kindness opens offices in Serbia, making it one of the principal charities working across the Balkans.

2010

Small Kindness staff deliver aid projects in the Gambia, including the distribution of food and toys to children and families.

2013

Dr Yusuf Islam contributes an instrumental piece for Srebrenica Memorial Day, in remembrance of the thousands who died during the Balkan's conflict.

An Evening with Yusuf Islam in London raises awareness of the work Small Kindness is doing.
